A Place of Safety

Last week's winter storm revealed a few things to me:

  1. I do not like the cold.

  2. I do enjoy watching the snow from inside my warm house while holding a hot mug of coffee.

  3. I recognize the Lord is in control! We cannot stop the storm from coming.

  4. I believe He is faithful to protect us in the storm. We have shelter and heat to ride out the storm.

  5. I know that Jesus is with us. A lesson learned from 2020; we can still gather online for the Word and spend time with Jesus on our own!

  6. I am glad that neither the storm nor the snow will last forever. Warmer days are coming. Praise Him in the waiting.

  7. I am thankful that this world is not my home... see 1.

Throughout our lives, these "winter storms" tend to come and go. (John 16:33) Some storms are longer and harsher than others, and some leave us struggling to have faith that God is in control. The storms of life do not change who God is. God will remain true to Himself and His Word. His Word reveals this truth. He is our shelter from the storm. His character and nature are revealed in His Word, establishing our trust. Yes, the storms will come, but the Lord is our shelter.

"This I declare about the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him." Psalm 91:2

What did God teach you during this winter storm?
