Are You CHOSEN?
I have 1 question for all of you today - have you seen the Vid-Angel series “The Chosen”? If the answer is no, the time is now…180 million others already have! Why is that the question of the day? All I can say is that if you think you know how Jesus interacted with His disciples, the Pharisees of His day, or with those who crucified Him...you may be pleasantly and truthfully surprised by how this series portrays His ministry. The 2nd season of this show just came out, and I can honestly say that the way I thought Jesus was, in my mind, is now forever changed.
At a recent staff meeting, we were discussing some of the challenges we all face in ministry. As we went around the table sharing, it struck me that the way Jesus engaged in ministry was very personal and mostly 1-on-1. Watching The Chosen is a big reason I see that more clearly today. It’s why I am so excited to have you watch this series!
I think we can get so focused on doing big things for God that we miss the opportunities to share Jesus right in front of us today. I would often marvel at the ministry that my brother Bill was able to do and the scale he could do it on. As a policeman for so many years, my efforts felt like trying to keep a lid on a pressure cooker at times. Ever felt that way in your own family or circumstances? Ever been at the center of a storm? Maybe you are in the middle of that storm right now...or are feeling like you don’t really have a ministry.
We have a Savior who made sure He connected with each & every person who crossed His path. They may have thought it was a chance encounter, but you know what? He “chose” them. And He has chosen you today. In this series, you will see a Savior who never missed a chance to bring light to those who walk in darkness. A healer who didn’t just tell people about God but actually loved those He interacted with. And you can “feel” it watching these episodes. It’s Biblical truth brought to life. I’ve always thought that one of Bill’s greatest gifts is the ability to bring the Bible to life in the here & now. Well, this is that too...Jesus, as He was, is, and forever will be.
He has “chosen” you for just such a time as this. This is not a new story, but it is a forever story. Jesus wants you to choose Him every bit as much as He has chosen you.
He is bigger than you think…..He loves you more than you know. Can you see that clearly & agree with it fully? If not, watch a few episodes…..He may just come to life - and bring the Gospel to life - in you. I urge you to KNOW HIM on a deeper level.
Don’t just take my word for it...watch, listen, grow…CHOOSE JESUS.
By the way, T.V. doesn’t do Him justice either - HIS WORD says it better than anyone ever could.
John 15:16 (AMP) “You have not chosen me, but I (Jesus) have chosen you and I have appointed and placed and purposefully planted you, so that you would go and bear fruit and keep on bearing, and that your fruit will remain and be lasting, so that whatever you ask of the Father in my name (as my representative) He may give you.”
