Choose What's Most Important

"The Lord answered her, "Martha, my beloved Martha. Why are you upset and troubled, pulled away by all these many distractions? Are they really that important? Mary has discovered the one thing most important by choosing to sit at my feet. She is undistracted, and I won't take this privilege from her."

(Luke 10:41-42, TPT)

In life, it is so easy for us to be troubled by many things, and pulled away by many distractions. We can become so busy and so focused on the issues of life, that we easily lose sight of what's truly important. Of course, Jesus cares about us, and he cares about every detail of our lives. However, instead of focusing on the issues of life, we should focus on the giver and sustainer of life! Jesus is the creator, the sustainer, and the source of all things! The Bible says, "He himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else. For in him, we live and move and have our being." (Acts 17:25,28) When Jesus died on the cross for us, he broke the curse, and the veil was torn! Through Christ, we are reconciled back to God, and we now have complete access to boldly come before the Lord's throne and worship at his feet!

Getting to know Jesus is the most important thing we'll ever do in this life! We have the privilege of knowing our savior intimately! Jesus is better than our shortcomings, our accomplishments, our suffering, our losses, and anything that this world has to offer! Jesus is always better, and absolutely nothing compares to knowing him! Paul said it best, "But whatever were gains to me; I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ." (Philipians 3:7-8)

Martha was distracted by many things that were not really important, but Mary was devoted to the one who is most important...Jesus. Let us take the time today, to choose what's most important. Choose to sit at the feet of Jesus..talk to him, listen to him, worship him, and rest in him!
