Life is so busy all of the time, but summer is a different kind of busy. Schedules get all out of whack, and everyone is going all over the place for camps, vacations, sporting activities, and so many other things.
Each year, Cindy and I take time during the summer to go and see our family that is spread out across the country. You could call it a vacation, but I call it a sabbatical. God uses that time away to not only allow us some much-needed rest but to work in my heart in new and exciting ways. I love to come home to Amarillo with new thoughts, sermon illustrations, and a longing to get back into the pulpit and share what God has spoken to me with my Grace Church family.
While I’m away, some great pastors will be bringing you the Word of God on Sundays! But on Wednesdays, we want to give you a chance to rest too. We will not be having Wednesday night services from July 6th to August 3rd. Use this time to pray with your family, have a special meal with someone, go to the park and ask God to speak to you, or have your own study with your kids or your spouse. Whatever you do, use this time to rest in Jesus!
“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30.
There are some great new things coming this Fall that we’ll start letting you know specifics about in August - opportunities for home groups and discipleship groups!
On our first Wednesday back (August 10), we will have a special night of praise and worship at 7pm. So get refreshed with me, and then join us in worship as we pour ourselves out to our Savior and get ready for the next season!
