The Gospel is Good News

What happens after you believe in Jesus?

I can tell you some things that don’t happen and some things that do happen! Perhaps you thought that once you believed on Jesus as Savior, you would immediately stop sinning! That sure would be nice, but we live in a sinful and fallen world, and we still live in sinful bodies. As we get closer to God and obey Him, we become more like Him, and we will sin less and less, but we will never stop sinning until we go to Heaven. Heaven is a perfect place where there is no sin, and we will have a new and perfect body! God calls us to confess our sin when we mess up, and He will forgive us and cleanse us. (1 John 1:9)

Paul talks about some of the differences we should see in a person who has believed on Jesus.

1 Corinthians 15:1-2 “Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you—unless you believed in vain.”

Let’s remember what the word ‘gospel’ means, it means Good News! It is the good news about Jesus! If you have truly believed on Jesus as your Savior, you have good news to share and live by! God’s Word says that you receive the gospel. Because of the gospel, you can stand, you are saved from sin by the gospel, and you are to hold fast to the gospel and God’s Word. Remember, others should see a difference in you! Jesus should be the most important thing in your life! More than toys, food, friends, or TV!

This week spend some time getting to know Jesus by praying (that means just talk to him), reading your Bible, and worshiping Him in song!

We will see you back in Treehouse very soon!
