Trusting God through Change
Dear Grace Treehouse Kids and Families,
I am sure you have all heard someone say, “Change is hard!” And it is true whether good or bad change usually has its challenges. Sometimes change can be exciting, like an adventure! Good things like moving to a new place or a new sibling being born. Other times change can be scary and cause us to fear. Hard stuff like parents splitting up or someone has died in your family. Whether the changes are good or hard, we cannot stop change from happening, it is part of life.
How can we trust God and praise Him during change, whether it is good or bad? First, God never changes! When we put our faith in Christ, we are also placing our lives in His hands, trusting that He has the best plan for our lives. (Read Romans 8:28) When we live a life obedient to Him, we can walk in the assurance that He cares about us and is working all things together for our good.
While change in our lives may be happening, the most important change happens in our hearts. God wants change in our hearts to be happening continually! This is called Sanctification, and that means we are changing, becoming more and more like Christ! We change to be more like Him because we spend time with Jesus and in His Word, learning and obeying. He does a work of change in our hearts that only He can do. As our hearts change, we react to the change in our lives much differently. Because we know the One who is in control and we can trust Him with our lives!
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6 ESV
