Walking in the Spirit

I've noticed in life that there are times when we're filled by the Spirit of God, and He'll ask us to do something very much out of our comfort zone. At first, we might think, 'this is just a weird thought from eating Taco Bell burritos' - but then the Holy Spirit has a way of confirming it within our spirit! When we truly follow His leading in a practical way, we might be very surprised at the outcome.

Recently I received this text from a friend of mine named Walter:

"Hey, I've been reading the book of Romans and studying it for the last couple or three months, and I'm in chapter 8. I listened to some of your old sermons on Romans, and I was listening to how the Holy Spirit is our Comforter and Helper today. I usually run around Belmar Park 3 to 5 times a week. The last few times I've been running, there's been this car sitting in the same spot with the same two people in it just sitting there talking, and the Holy Spirit, through your message, was saying to me, "Let's just stop and talk to them, see if they're OK, or if there's something they need." So I did, and to my amazement and God's glory, when they rolled down the window, I told them the Spirit had just kind of been nudging me to stop and talk to them as I'd been running out here a few times in the last week or so. They said: that's amazing because we've just been sitting here talking about how the Holy Spirit is working right now. So we prayed - I didn't know what to pray for, but I prayed that God would provide for them what they needed and the Holy Spirit would guide and lead them to where they need to go. I did invite them to the Franklin Graham event, and I hope to see them again on one of my runs. Thank you for your encouragement, and God gets all the glory. Take care."

What a blessing to see how the Holy Spirit is working in the lives of His people. It can be as simple as a smile or hello, or you could be asked to do something even bigger. Pray daily that God will fill you with His Spirit so that you can be used for His glory!

"If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit." - Galatians 5:25

In Him,

Pastor Bill

P.S. I love that Walter was on a run when the Holy Spirit prompted him. I'd love you to hear a story of how the Holy Spirit has prompted you!
