The Retrn of the Lord
A 3-Day Devotional from Pastor Bill's Message April 12, 2026
Day 1
READ:
1 Thessalonians 1:4–10
DEVO:
There is a difference between hearing truth and experiencing it. Many people encounter truth as information—something to consider, analyze, or even admire from a distance. But when truth is received deeply, it begins to change the way a person sees everything. It moves from the mind into the heart, and from the heart into daily life. This is what happens when the gospel is not just heard but embraced. It carries power, not because of eloquence, but because it is alive and active.
When that power takes hold, it produces evidence. People begin to turn—sometimes gradually, sometimes dramatically—away from what once defined them. It is not forced behavior modification, but a natural response to encountering something greater. Old priorities begin to lose their grip, and a new direction emerges. This is the work of faith, quietly reshaping a life from the inside out.
The beauty of this transformation is that it is not dependent on perfect conditions or perfect people. It happens because God is at work. And when He is at work, even the smallest beginning can grow into something lasting. The same power that began the work continues to sustain it.
APPLICATION:
Where have you been settling for knowing truth instead of allowing it to truly change your life?
Day 2
READ:
John 14:15–21
DEVO:
One of the most profound realities of the Christian life is the relationship it offers. It is not merely about belief or behavior—it is about connection. Jesus describes a union that goes beyond understanding: being in Him and Him in us. This is not symbolic language; it is a living reality. It means that the life we live is no longer separate from Him, but intertwined with His presence.
This connection changes how we approach everything. We are no longer striving to earn approval or trying to build meaning on our own. Instead, we are living from a place of belonging. When that truth settles in, it reshapes identity. You are not defined by past failures, current struggles, or others’ opinions. You are defined by being loved and chosen by God.
From that place of identity, love begins to flow outward. It shows up in service, in patience, and in sacrifice. It is not always easy, but it is deeply meaningful. Love becomes less about feeling and more about faithfulness. And in that process, we begin to reflect the heart of God more clearly.
APPLICATION:
How would your daily life change if you truly lived from the reality that you are loved and chosen by God?
Day 3
READ:
1 Thessalonians 4:13–18
DEVO:
Hope is often misunderstood. Many think of it as wishful thinking, something uncertain that we cling to when circumstances are unclear. But biblical hope is different. It is grounded in certainty. It looks forward with confidence, not because of what we see, but because of what has been promised.
This kind of hope steadies the heart. It allows us to endure difficulty without losing direction. It reminds us that what we are experiencing now is not the final chapter. There is more to come, and that future is secure. This perspective changes how we live in the present. Instead of being overwhelmed by uncertainty, we are anchored by expectation.
Waiting, then, is not passive. It is active trust. It is choosing to live faithfully today while anticipating what is ahead. It shapes priorities, influences decisions, and brings a quiet peace even in the midst of chaos. Hope keeps us moving forward, reminding us that God is not finished.
APPLICATION:
What would it look like for you to live today with a confident expectation of what God has promised?
